Veteran Aboubakar is the captain of Cameroon. Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar, who was born on January 22, 1992, currently plays for Saudi Professional League team Al Nassr and serves as team captain. After starting his professional career at Coton Sport, Aboubakar relocated to Europe in 2010 and played for Ligue 1 teams Valenciennes and Lorient, making a total of 109 appearances and scoring 26 goals in France’s top division. He joined Porto in 2014, playing 125 games and scoring 58 goals while winning the Primeira Liga. In 2017 and 2021, he won the Turkish Super Lig while on loan at Beşiktaş.
Since his international debut in May 2010, Aboubakar has earned 90 caps for Cameroon. He was a member of their squads for the FIFA World Cups in 2010 and 2014, as well as the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, 2017, and 2021. He scored the game-winning goal in the 2017 tournament final and was the tournament’s leading scorer in 2021.

On July 1, 2013, Aboubakar joined Lorient on a free transfer. On 10 August, he made his Breton debut, playing the full 90 minutes of a 1-0 loss at Lille, and scored his first goal eight days later, equalizing in a 2-1 win over Nantes at the Stade du Moustoir. He was the season’s joint second-highest scorer, with 16 league goals from 35 appearances, including braces in a 4-0 win at Évian on November 23 and a 4-4 home draw with Montpellier on April 20, 2014.
