
On January 6, 1994, Jameis Lanaed Winston, a quarterback with the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League, was born. His freshman year at Florida State, where he played collegiate football, saw him earn the Heisman Trophy as the youngest recipient ever and lead his team to victory in the 2014 BCS National Championship Game.
After his sophomore year, Winston entered the 2015 NFL Draft as a free agent and was chosen first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Winston was named to the Pro Bowl after leading the league in passing yards in 2019 and breaking other Buccaneers rookie records.
A noteworthy aspect of his 2019 season was that he established an NFL season record for interceptions returned for touchdowns while also leading the league in interceptions. In spite of this, he was unable to assist the Buccaneers in reaching the postseason.
