The National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams placekicker Matt Gay was born on March 15, 1994. (NFL). He played college football for Utah, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
On November 17, 2020, the Los Angeles Rams signed Gay off the practice squad of the Colts to replace injured kicker Kai Forbath. In Week 11’s 27-24 victory over his previous team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on Monday Night Football, Gay was a perfect 3 for 3 on extra point attempts and made two of his three field goal attempts, including the game-winning kick late in the fourth quarter. Gay qualified for his first Pro Bowl after making 32 of 34 field goal attempts and 48 of 49 PAT attempts in 2021.
He made three of his four field goal attempts and three of three extra-point kicks against the Buccaneers in an NFC Divisional Playoff game. He also made the game-winning field goal from 30 yards out with only seconds left in regulation to send the Rams to the NFC Championship Game. In Super Bowl LVI, he assisted the Los Angeles Rams in defeating the Cincinnati Bengals with a 41-yard field goal in the third quarter and two successful PAT tries. This was his first Super Bowl triumph. Gay received a restricted free-agent tender from the Rams in the first round on March 15, 2022.
