Trent Williams, an offensive tackle with the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League, was born on July 19, 1988.
Williams was compared to Jammal Brown and was regarded as one of the top offensive linemen available in the 2010 NFL Draft (who, coincidentally, would also join the Redskins that same offseason via trade). Williams will be selected in the first round and has the potential to start for the NFL for a very long time, claims Gil Brandt of NFL.com.
Williams signed a six-year, US$60 million contract with the Washington Redskins on July 30, 2010, after being selected fourth overall by the team. Williams and seasoned teammate Santana Moss were named offensive co-captains in 2011. Williams and teammate Fred Davis were given a four-game suspension in Week 14 for failing multiple drug tests.
Williams was injured in the first preseason game of 2012 against the Buffalo Bills, suffering a bone bruise on his left foot. Despite this, he started the following two preseason games, and by the time the season began and he faced the New Orleans Saints, he was fully recovered. His colleagues once more chose him to serve as the offensive team captain at the beginning of the season.
