Actor and producer Luis Gerardo Hernández Méndez was born in Aguascalientes City on March 12, 1982.
Méndez rose to stardom with his leading role in the 2013 comedy picture The Noble Family, which for a short period of time was Mexico’s highest-grossing movie ever.
Notable movies on which Luis starred include Cantinflas. In 2015, he is co-produced (with pal Gary Alazraki) and co-starred (with Mariana Trevio) in Club de Cuervos, the first-ever Spanish-language Netflix original production.
Méndez was asked about his sexual orientation after making a reference to his previous relationships in an interview using a masculine pronoun. By January 2016, he had a romantic relationship with Pablo Chemor.
Méndez owns a dog named Tuba, and the two of them were featured in a PETA advertisement urging people to treat their dogs like family.
Luis’ talent and work has not gone unnoticed. Méndez was a finalist for the Ariel Award for Best Actor in 2013, for his performance as Javi Noble in the movie The Noble Family.
For his work in Cantinflas, he received a New York Latin ACE Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture (2014).
For his leading role in Bayoneta, Méndez was nominated for a second Ariel Award in 2019.
