The Emmys, the most coveted honors in television, will be presented on Monday night in Los Angeles.
Due to the cancellation of several pre-show celebrations after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week, there has been a subdued build-up to the event.
In contrast to the Canadian embassy, the British Film and Television Academy postponed its festivities while cancelling its nominees’ traditional Hollywood tea gathering.
The actual ceremony is anticipated to reflect on the Queen’s passing.
It will be the first full-scale Emmys since the outbreak and will be hosted by comedian from Saturday Night Live Kenan Thompson.
The ceremony from the previous year was held outside and only a few people showed up in person.
The Crown, the major winner from the previous year in the category of royal drama, is not a candidate for the 2022 awards. As a “show of respect” for the Queen, Netflix said last week that filming on the most recent series had been suspended.
It’s expected that Succession will take its position in the fiercely contested best drama category.
The show, a Machiavellian narrative of a family striving for control of a media empire, was created by British author Jesse Armstong and has received 25 nominations in all, more than any other program.
