Capaldi claims to have a Tourette syndrome-related shoulder twitch. He first thought he had “some dreadful degenerative condition.” He stated that he went public to dispel accusations of drug usage and that he was “finding new methods to cope” with it.

Although there is no treatment for Tourette syndrome, symptoms can be treated and may ultimately go away. Capaldi stated that he had had botulinum toxin injections in his shoulder to prevent it from jerking.

“You know, I’m not going out there and hurting somebody’s sentiments just to have other people laugh,” he explained. “We’re all meant to be laughing together, even the subject of the joke.”

Lewis Capaldi announced in an Instagram live session that he has Tourette syndrome and is being treated with injections to regulate his symptoms. Tourette syndrome is a neurological illness characterized by uncontrollable, abrupt, repeated, and quick motions or vocal noises.

The 25-year-old pop singer is best known for his Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping singles “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go.”

His debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, was the best-selling record in the United Kingdom in 2019 and 2020.

“Someone You Loved” was nominated for a Grammy “Song of the Year” award and went on to become the longest-running Top 10 UK hit by a British artist of all time.
