Irish businessman Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was of Indian descent. From 2012 until 2016, he served as the chairman of the Indian commercial behemoth Tata Group.
He was the group’s sixth chairman and just the second to not have the Tata surname.

On September 4 near Charoti in Palghar, Mistry was killed in a car accident while driving a Mercedes back from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.

He was picked by a team of judges to lead the Tata Group in the middle of 2012, and he assumed control in December of that same year. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) nonetheless ruled Chandrasekaran’s appointment as executive chairman to be unlawful in December 2019 and reinstated Mistry. On January 10, 2020, the Supreme Court issued a stay of the NCLAT’s ruling.
