Paula Badosa, a Spanish professional tennis player, was born on November 15, 1997. She has three WTA Tour singles championships to her resume, and her run to the 2021 French Open quarterfinals was her finest Grand Slam performance to date.
Later that year, she earned her biggest career victory to date by winning the Indian Wells Masters, a WTA 1000 competition.
Her father Josep Badosa is a Spanish native who works in the fashion industry.
Josep relocated his family to Barcelona when the tennis star was seven years old. She desired to be a model as a child, following in her parent’s footsteps.
Maria Sharapova and Rafael Nadal were her childhood heroes.
She made her professional debut in 2012, and in 2013 she captured her maiden championship.
She was given a wildcard for the Miami Open’s main tournament in March 2015. Bedosa then lost to Aleksandra Kruni in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Morocco Open.
She qualified for the 2019 Australian Open and played in the main draw for the first time, where she was defeated by wildcard Kimberly Birrell in the opening round.
At the Palermo Open in July, she advanced to her first WTA semifinal but fell to Kiki Bertens, the current world No. 5.
She then advanced to the WTA Challenger Karlsruhe Open semifinals.
The Spaniard then made her top 100 debut and advanced to the Korea Open quarterfinals.
