William David Trimble, Baron Trimble, PC, was a British politician, who served as Northern Ireland’s first minister from 1998 to 2002 and as the party’s leader from 1995 to 2005.
The Good Friday Agreement, the peace accord that put an end to the worst of Northern Ireland’s Troubles, was negotiated in large part by Lord Trimble.
His funeral was recently held to the sorrow of many. He was 77.
He married twice in his lifetime.
Together with SDLP leader John Hume, he shared the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions.

Nicholas, who is his son, is involved with the Ulster Unionist Party. In 2016, Nicholas Trimble was elected to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council to take Alexander Redpath’s position as the councilor for Downshire West.
The funeral was attended by many dignitaries hence it was successful.
