Sarina Petronella Wiegman RON (born 26 October 1969), also known as Sarina Wiegman-Glotzbach, is the current head coach of the England women’s national team and a former player from the Netherlands.

Wiegman began her playing career as a central midfielder before transitioning to a defender. She enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989 and played for the North Carolina Tar Heels women’s soccer team. When she returned to the Netherlands, she joined the Ter Leede women’s team in addition to her job as a physical education teacher.

She won the Dutch championship and the KNVB Cup once with Ter Leede. From 1987 to 2001, Wiegman represented the Netherlands. Despite appearing 104 times for her country (which was a record).

Wiegman began coaching with the women’s teams of Ter Leede and ADO Den Haag after retiring in 2003.

She was appointed assistant manager of the national team in 2014. Wiegman received her full coaching license in 2016 and became the first woman to coach in a Dutch professional football organization. Wiegman led the national team to victory at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 after being appointed head coach. She led the team to a runner-up finish at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup two years later.

It was announced in August 2020 that she would take over as manager of the England women’s national team in 2021.
