Bernard Joseph Cribbins OBE was a seven-decade-long English actor and vocalist who died on July 27, 2022.
Bernard Cribbins had a diverse filmography that included roles in the Carry-On flicks and the original Casino Royale. Cribbins also appeared in Coronation Street and, more recently, Doctor Who, and had a streak of top ten successes, including the comedic song Right Said Fred in 1962.

The beloved actor was born in Oldham in 1928 and rose to popularity in film and television, most notably as the narrator of The Wombles and a long-time host on Jackanory.

Cribbins met Gillian McBarnet, an aspiring actress, when he joined the Oldham Rep. They were married from 1955 until she died on October 11, 2021.
They lived in Weybridge, Surrey, and had no children, according to Cribbins, who stated in 2018 that they “lost one quite early on and that was the only time [they] got close to it.” He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009, but he declared in 2018 that he was “in good health” at the age of 90, save from a “nagging back ailment.”
