Former NASCAR driver Bobby East was killed in a stabbing at a Southern California gas station. The authorities said the suspect was later shot and killed by police.
Bobby East is a three-time national champion in USAC who raced in NASCAR for several years in the late 2000s. He died Wednesday afternoon after being stabbed at a gas station in the Los Angeles area. He was 37 at the time of his death.
The suspect who stabbed the driver was identified as 27-year-old Trent William Millsap. At the time of the stabbing, Millsap was also wanted on an unrelated parole warrant and was on parole for armed robbery. The motive for the stabbing is not yet clear.
During a SWAT raid of the apartment Friday, Millsap “became confrontational. This prompted the officers to first deploy a K-9, and then open fire on him, the Police did not say if Milsap was armed or not.
Millsap was wounded and taken to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The K-9 was also struck by a bullet but had survived.
