Penny Mordaunt was born on March 4, 1973, in Torquay, United Kingdom. She was born to former paratrooper and teacher, John Mordaunt, and Jennifer Snowden, a special needs teacher.
Penny Mordaunt lost her mother to breast cancer at age 15. has two brothers including her twin, James, and a younger brother, Edward. She attended Oaklands Roman Catholic Comprehensive School in Waterlooville, Hampshire. She also studied drama at the Victoryland Theatre School.
Penny Mordaunt also majored in philosophy at the University of Reading where she graduated in 1995. She was the Secretary of State for International Development between 2017 and 2019 as well as Secretary of State for Defence in 2019. She has been the Member of Parliament representing Portsmouth North since 2010.
