Head of communications of Midland Savings and Loans, Albert Nyarko has today July 23 held a press conference to address the recent viral issue of a police officer abusing a client named Patience Osafo at an Accra branch.
Speaking to a team of gathered media personnel at the company headquarters in Accra he said:
“We at Midlands wish to emphatically condemn the abuse by our security on the client that happened on Thursday at one of our Accra branches. We wish to inform our clients that their safety and security is our main priority. This was a one-off case that has never happened before. Also, we wish to debunk any news that the bank is about collapsing, we’ve been in business for over 20 years and any news of a collapse in unfounded. Once again we wish to express our regret for what transpired over the week and declare it will never happen again”
The assault police officer has since been stripped of his badge and lost his job whiles the victim Patience Osafo has received over GHc40,000 in cash and others in kind to help her get over what happened.
President Akufo-Addo also issued a press release condemning the attacks on citizen stating “The police are to protect citizens, not to assault citizens”
