A horrifying incident has recently occurred in Gomoa Pomadze, located in the Gomoa Central district of the Central Region, where a 29-year-old woman named Philomena Owusu is in critical condition after a brutal attack by her husband.
Tragically, Philomena’s nine-month-old baby girl lost her life after being bathed in acid alongside her mother by her 35-year-old father, Enoch Mensah, who is currently on the run.
The couple had been experiencing escalating discord, especially concerning financial issues such as rent, before and after the birth of their child. The situation reached a boiling point when they faced eviction due to Enoch’s failure to pay rent arrears.
In a shocking twist of events, Enoch returned to their residence shortly after the argument and poured acid on Philomena and their infant daughter, causing severe injuries.
Neighbors were alerted by Philomena’s desperate screams and rushed to the scene, only to find the mother and child severely burned by the corrosive substance.
Emergency responders quickly transported them to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, but unfortunately, the infant did not survive.
