The Effutu lawmaker and Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Affenyo-Markin, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, has completed 60 out of the 101 community-day school buildings (E-blocks) that were started by the previous administration.
According to Affenyo-Markin, the number of E-blocks completed by the NPP is significantly higher than the 29 completed under the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He emphasized the government’s commitment to continuity and stated that 15 of the remaining E-blocks have been earmarked for the resumption of work.
In addition to the completion of E-blocks, the government has also constructed 747 structures across the country to improve infrastructure in senior high schools. Affenyo-Markin highlighted the success of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) program, noting that as of December 2023, 1.4 million vulnerable households had benefited from the initiative.
The Effutu MP also addressed the issue of reductions in electricity tariffs, stating that despite economic hardships, the situation would have been worse under the NDC. He praised the NPP’s management of the economy, including the energy sector, and highlighted key policies such as reductions in electricity tariffs and the implementation of the FSHS policy.
Affenyo-Markin criticized the NDC’s stance on these policies while they were in government, pointing out that the NPP had successfully negotiated tariff reductions and implemented initiatives that benefited both households and businesses.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and delivering on its policies.
