In a tragic incident that highlights the dangers of electrical negligence, a 6-year-old boy in Ghana lost his life after being electrocuted while playing with an electrified container shop.

Despite repeated complaints from residents about the dangerous installation, the owner, a pastor named Peter Obi, had failed to take necessary safety measures.

The incident has raised questions about the need for better enforcement of electrical safety regulations and accountability for those who fail to comply.

The 6-year-old boy in question  Theophilus Eleke Lordgist died instantly after being electrocuted while playing with an electrified container shop in Fetteh Kakraba, located in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The incident occurred on Monday evening(May 1st), and the boy was immediately taken to the St. Gregory Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The container, which is said to belong to a pastor named Peter Obi, had shocked three people in the past week, but the pastor had failed to disconnect power to the container or check the wiring, despite repeated calls to do so.

Residents complained that the pastor insulted anyone who called him about the container, which had become a death trap.

The mother of the deceased, Elizabeth Duah, expressed shock upon seeing the lifeless body of her son. She explained that instead of releasing the body to her for burial, the hospital authorities were requesting money from her for postmortem, which she didn’t have.

The boy’s body was deposited at the St. Gregory Catholic Hospital Mortuary, and the case was reported to the Awutu Bereku Police Station for investigation.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of ensuring electrical safety in our communities. People should be vigilant and report any unsafe electrical installations to the relevant authorities.

The pastor’s negligence and lack of concern for the safety of those around him resulted in the loss of a young life, and he must be held accountable for his actions.
