In a shocking turn of events, three suspects have been arrested by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for the alleged theft of a baby in Kasoa Ofaakor.

The suspects, identified as Magdalene Nana Adwoa Boafo, 28, Faustina Binney, 32, and Eunice Koomson, 36, reportedly lured the mother of the baby, Abigail Addison, with promises of financial assistance and safe delivery.

According to police sources, the prime suspect, Nana Adwoa Boafo, initially offered to help Abigail, who was eight months pregnant and selling pure water in traffic at Ofaakor. She later introduced her to the other two suspects, who pretended to offer support but had sinister intentions.

The suspects went as far as renting an apartment for Abigail in Kasoa Lamptey and continued to assist her until she delivered at the Kasoa Polyclinic. However, their true motives were revealed when they introduced another woman posing as a nurse from Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to treat the baby for an infection, only to steal the child.

After claiming the baby had died and been buried, suspicions were raised by the victim’s landlord, leading to the suspects’ arrest by Kasoa DOVVSU. Preliminary investigations have uncovered the elaborate plan of the women, who are currently in custody aiding with further inquiries.

The mother of the victim has expressed her gratitude to Kasoa DOVVSU Commander, DSP Doris Laryea, and her team for their swift actions. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of deceit and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding the well-being of vulnerable individuals in society.
