The Asokwa Circuit Court in Kumasi has handed down a hefty sentence to three individuals who were involved in a series of tricycle robberies.

The culprits, identified as Francis Anisapo, Clinton Yeboah, and Ahiave David, received a total of 60 years in prison for their crimes.

Francis Anisapo, a 25-year-old cobbler, was sentenced to 25 years behind bars, while Clinton Yeboah, a 24-year-old mason, and Ahiave David, an 18-year-old security officer, were given 20 and 15 years respectively. The presiding judge, Her Honour Vida Achiaa Yeboah, found them guilty of robbery, causing harm, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

One accomplice, known only as Moses, is currently on the run. Francis Aniasapo had previously been convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for a similar robbery case.

The incident in question occurred when the accused individuals robbed a tricycle rider, Nazif Ibrahim, at knifepoint. They pretended to hire the rider and later demanded the ignition keys to the tricycle. When the rider resisted, he was attacked and sustained injuries. The accused then fled the scene with the tricycle.

Following a complaint to the Asokwa Police, the culprits were eventually apprehended, but one accomplice managed to escape. The accused individuals confessed to the crime during their interrogation but were unable to provide information on the whereabouts of the tricycle buyer.

On a tip-off, the police spotted a man riding the stolen tricycle, but he managed to evade capture. The tricycle has since been confiscated as evidence.
