A police officer attack in Kwahu Bepong in the Eastern Region has resulted in the arrest of 25 people. On Sunday, February 4, 2024, a terrible altercation occurred that left two people dead and numerous others injured.
Reports stated that a group of angry young people were calling for Kwesi Tenkorang’s release. Kwesi is believed to have slain and raped a young woman along with her sister in the town.
He was found at his hiding place when locals conducted a search. While some suggested sending the suspect to the chief’s palace, others wanted to lynch him.
While waiting for the police to arrive, the Kwawu Bepong chief detained the culprit. The chief refused to release the suspect despite the youth’s storming of the palace.
They consequently damaged property at the palace worth millions of Ghanaian cedis. The young people allegedly fight the police when they arrive, prompting the officers to fire warning bullets.
The Ghana Police Service said in a statement that tranquility has been restored thanks to the efforts of a reinforcement squad and the local police.
