“24-hour economy will address mass exodus of Ghanaian youth”- Naana Opoku-Agyemang

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the 2020 running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has voiced concerns about the widespread migration of Ghanaian youth abroad in quest of better opportunities.

She draws attention to the fact that a sizable fraction of Ghana’s labor force is made up of expatriates.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang addressed the youth at the Accra launch of the “Voice Out, Vote Out” initiative and said that the NDC’s proposed 24-hour economy policy aims to address the mass exodus of skilled citizens and graduates by creating more job opportunities.

She promised to break all the bad luck that is causing young people to leave in search of better opportunities under the next NDC administration.

“Ghana needs to be freed from unneeded frustration, confusion, and devastation. We need to free our young people from hopelessness and helplessness. Above all, we need to be freed from the humiliation and miseducation of our young people,, who are escaping the nation,, and from unemployment.

“You’ll cry if you just drive past most of the embassies. These are individuals who have received our training, are skilled and want to leave. Who is at fault, and what substitute are we proposing? We have the 24-hour economy as an option.
