It is the worst day for Israeli forces since the beginning of their military assault, according to the Israeli army, which claims that 21 of its soldiers have died in Gaza.

According to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari, there is a possibility that a rocket-propelled grenade struck a tank near two structures they were in.

According to him, the structures most likely burst due to explosives planted by Israeli forces in an attempt to destroy them. The incident’s specifics are still being looked at, according to the IDF.

On Monday at around 16:00 (14:00 GMT), the event happened in central Gaza, near the Israeli kibbutz of Kissufim. Mr. Hagari stated that this was the location of the incident.

He stated that the soldiers, most of whom were reservists, were engaged in an operation that would enable the safe return of thousands of southern Israeli citizens to their homes following the evacuation of tens of thousands during the Hamas attack on October 7.

Finding out the number of deaths had been an “unbearably difficult morning,” according to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who posted on X, the former Twitter.

“On behalf of the entire nation, I console the families and pray for the healing of the wounded,” he continued.

Israel announced that its goal in starting the war was to eliminate Hamas after waves of its gunmen carried out an unprecedented offensive that claimed 1,300 lives, the majority of them civilians, and kidnapped roughly 250 more.

Since then, the Israeli military operation in Gaza has killed at least 25,295 people, mostly women and children, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas.
