Rapper Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, better known by his stage name 21 Savage, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 22, 1992. Born in London, he relocated to Atlanta at the age of seven with his mother.
The two mixtapes he released in 2015 helped him gain recognition, and in 2016 he and Metro Boomin collaborated on the EP Savage Mode. Its singles “X” (featuring Future) and “No Heart” peaked in the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, and 21 Savage’s profile later rose with a guest appearance on Drake’s single “Sneakin’.” Following that, in January 2017, he penned a recording deal with Epic Records.
21 Savage, who frequently collaborates with Metro Boomin, has been dubbed “one of the few actual street niggas still doing music.” His music is largely autobiographical and places a strong emphasis on the violent and criminal aspects of his history, such as murder and drug selling.
