Laryea Kingston, the head coach of the Black Starlets, has revealed that he personally selected each member of the 20-man squad that will represent Ghana in the upcoming 2024 WAFU B U17 Cup of Nations.

The highly-anticipated tournament is set to kick off in Ghana, with the team’s first match against Cote d’Ivoire scheduled for Wednesday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
In a recent interview with Joy Sports, the former Ghanaian footballer expressed his determination to secure a top-two finish in the tournament, aiming for qualification to the 2025 U17 AFCON.

With Ghana’s previous attempts at qualification ending in disappointment, Kingston emphasized the importance of putting together a strong squad for the competition.
“I personally handpicked each player in this squad. It was not an easy task, but I fought for every single player that you see in the team now,” Kingston stated. “I made sure to evaluate each player recommended to me and only included those who I believe can contribute to our overall goal.”

As the Black Starlets gear up for their opening match, Kingston’s meticulous selection process and dedication to building a competitive team are sure to be on full display.
