Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has received a warning from Senior Vice President Kofi Bentil of IMANI-Africa not to appoint existing government personnel to his administration if he is elected President.
An enthusiastic supporter of Bawumia’s president, Mr. Bentil, declared that he would be against the government should Bawumia include former Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration ministers in his new cabinet.
“I have made Vice President Bawumia aware of my position, which is that I do not want any significant members of the current administration on his team. Bentil said on Joy FM’s Newsfile, “I will openly criticize him if he chooses to do so.”
The policy analyst made this declaration after Dr. Bawumia unveiled his main objectives for governance in advance of the December election.
Dr. Bawumia promised to put things right if given the go-ahead, despite the economic difficulties Ghana is now facing under the current government.
Addressing himself as a “driver’s mate,” the Vice President declared that, should he be elected President, he would reverse some of the current administration’s tax policies.
Mr. Bentil agreed that Dr. Bawumia’s affiliation with the Akufo-Addo administration presents a serious obstacle.
Nevertheless, he pleaded with people to back Bawumia despite the present government’s flaws.
