In the first leg of the qualifiers, the Copper Queens of Zambia defeated the Black Queens of Ghana in a disappointing match.
This one-sided defeat took place at the 2024 Olympic Games. The game was played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Playing on their home field, the Black Queens adopted an aggressive offensive approach to start the third-round qualifying match with a lead they hoped to maintain into the second leg.
They made a determined effort, but at the end of the ninety-minute match, they were unable to find the net and lost by a narrow margin.
Top forward Racheal Kundananji gave the Copper Queens their lone goal of the match in the first half. This early hit turned out to be crucial in deciding how the game turned out.
Following this setback, the Black Queens will be under more pressure going into Wednesday, February 28th, when the second leg of the qualifiers is set to take place in Zambia.
Levy Mwanawasa Stadium is the venue for the game.
