A former Minister of State in the erstwhile Rawlings Administration, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, has set a target for the party to reverse the vote deficit it experienced in the 2020 Presidential election in the Western Region.

During the previous election, former President John Dramani Mahama was unable to reclaim power from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, with a vote deficit of 42,000 in the Western Region.

“We must win this election. And we should aim to overturn the deficit we faced in the last Presidential election. We should aim to overturn it by a minimum of 1000 votes,” said Mr. Totobi Quakyi.

He made this statement while presenting four-wheeler pick-up vehicles, alongside support from regional executives of the party, to Parliamentary Candidates of Mpohor, Ahanta West, Amenfi East, Shama, and Kwesimintsim.

Mr. Totobi Quakyi emphasized the importance of winning the upcoming election and urged the candidates to use the vehicles to enhance their mobility during the campaign period.

He encouraged the candidates to engage in a vigorous campaign, stating, “Your campaign should be a 24-hour door-to-door one, vigorous and unrelenting. Ghanaians are calling us, and we must heed their call.”

NDC’s Western Region Chairman Nana Toku highlighted that winning their respective constituencies would be the best way for the beneficiaries of the vehicles to show their appreciation. He urged them to work even harder than before.

Nicholas Amankwah, the Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiary Parliamentary Candidates, expressed gratitude for the gesture and pledged to work tirelessly to secure victory in their constituencies while increasing the presidential votes for John Dramani Mahama.

It is worth noting that Kofi Totobi Quakyi had also provided similar support in the lead-up to the 2000 general elections by presenting eight four-wheeler pickup vehicles to Parliamentary Candidates in the region.

Overall, with these latest contributions and efforts, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aims to strengthen its presence in the Western Region and improve its chances for success in the upcoming election.
