Berekum Chelsea’s head coach, Samuel Boadu, has been nominated for the final Coach of the Month award for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season. The Ghanaian top-flight league campaign concluded last season with FC Samartex emerging as the champions.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the nominees for the Coach of the Month Award for May-June, with Boadu being joined by Ibrahim Tanko and Bashir Hayford on the shortlist.
Boadu guided Berekum Chelsea to three wins, one draw, and two losses in the month, scoring nine goals and conceding nine. This performance saw Berekum Chelsea finish third on the League table after accumulating 51 points in the recently concluded campaign.
Meanwhile, Bashir Hayford led Heart of Lions to five wins and one draw in six Premier League games, with the team scoring ten goals and conceding three. Despite finishing 15th on the log with 45 points, Hayford’s leadership helped Heart of Lions escape relegation.
Accra Lions coach Tanko Ibrahim, the third nominee, steered his team to three victories, two draws, and two losses in seven League matches. Accra Lions scored six goals and conceded four, finishing second in the campaign, marking their best-ever performance in the League under Tanko Ibrahim since their promotion in the 2021/22 season.
According to the GFA statement announcing the nominees, the winner of the Coach of the Month award will receive a 42-inch NASCO Television set from Electroland Ghana Limited. The competition for the prestigious award is expected to be fierce as the coaches continue to make significant contributions to their respective teams in the Ghana Premier League.
