2022 FIFA World Cup: Who is the coach for Germany?

Hans-Dieter “Hansi” Flick (born February 24, 1965) is a German professional football coach and former player who now serves as the manager of the German national team. From August 2006 to July 2014, he was Germany’s assistant coach under manager Joachim Löw. Flick won the UEFA Champions League as Bayern Munich manager in August 2020, completing the club’s second continental treble.

He will also lead the team to a FIFA Club World Cup and another Bundesliga title in 2021. He is one of just two managers, along with Pep Guardiola, to have achieved a sextuple with his team.

The German Football Association stated on May 25, 2021, that Flick has signed a three-year contract to manage the German national team beginning August 1, 2021, succeeding his previous boss Joachim Löw following UEFA Euro 2020. Flick won his debut match 2-0 against Liechtenstein in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match on September 2, 2021.

On 4 June 2022, Germany drew 1-1 with Italy in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League A, making him the third coach behind Sepp Herberger and Josef Derwall to remain unbeaten in his first ten matches. This run would come to an end on September 23rd, when Germany fell 1-0 to Hungary in the same competition.
