In every football team, there is a captain, who leads the team. The captain for Mexico’s 2022 FIFA World Cup is called Andrés Guardado. He was born José Andrés Guardado Hernández and he is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for La Liga club Real Betis and captains the Mexico national team.

Guardado is 36 years of age born on September 28, 1986, in Guadalajara, Mexico to his parents Andrés Manuel Guardado his father and Teresa Hernández his mother. He holds dual nationality of Mexican and Spanish. He belongs to a mixed ethnic race.
Guardado began his football career in 1993. He stands tall at a height of 5 feet and 7 inches or 1.69 m and has a body weight of around 98 kg or 216 Ibs. He currently plays for Mexico’s national football team (#18 / Midfielder), and Real Betis Balompié (#18 / Midfielder).
Guardado was a married man. He first got married to his fellow Guadalajara native called Briana Morales in December 2006. Five years later, they divorced. He also married Sandra de la Vega from 2006 to 2011.
Guardado is an “honorary associate” of the Asociación Mexicana de Futbolistas (Mexican Footballers Association), created in October 2017. An association its main goal is, according to him, to “create a dialogue with league, federation and club authorities” with the domestic footballers.
Much of Guardado’s first year at Betis’ Estadio Benito Villamarín was captured in the Amazon Prime television documentary series Six Dreams, in which he was one of the stars.
On 1 January 2021, it was reported that Guardado tested positive for COVID-19. By January 13, he recovered.
