The most anticipated global football showpiece is set to begin on November 20, 2022, with 32 teams all seeking to annex the trophy.
Ghana is one of the teams that will tough it out for the trophy with the rest of the qualified teams at the football fiesta.
2022 FIFA World Cup: Who is the captain for Ghana?
The team is ably led by 32-year-old Andre Dede Ayew. Ayew is a household name in Ghana because of his stellar achievements on the field of play for the national team in times past.
He burst into the international scene in 2008 when he played in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. Even though the majority of Ghanaians did not appreciate the way he played in the finals against Cameroon and was seriously lambasted for it, he compensated with super impressive performances in subsequent international assignments for his country.
Ayew comes from a family of great footballers. His father, Abedi Ayew was nicknamed “Pele”, after the legendary Brazilian footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
He also played several matches for the Ghanaian national team. Ayew’s junior brother is also a super-talented footballer. He currently plays as a striker for the Black Stars of Ghana and will be in Qatar to make his country proud.
