Joseph Boakye (J.B.) Danquah-Adu, the late MP for Abuakwa North, was killed, and two people have been charged by the High Court with planning to commit both robbery and murder.

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame revealed this information on Tuesday, February 20, while giving a presentation on the floor of Parliament.

The Attorney-General claims that on the evening of February 8, 2016, the two accused went on a robbery spree. Nevertheless, following a discussion between them, the second accused went back home.

The first accused then went on to loot the late J.B. Danquah’s home on Monday, February 9, 2016, in East Legon, Accra. Danquah and his family lived in a one-story building.

Mr. Dame clarified that when the first accused entered the dead MP’s room, he was asleep by himself at the time of the incident.

He emphasized that the first accused and the late Abuakwa North MP got into a fight, during which the former stabbed the latter severely in the neck and chest. J.B. Danquah collapsed as a result, passing away from his wounds.

He stated, “The first accused also suffered injuries to his palm and chest.”

The Attorney-General went on to say that following the unfortunate incident, the first accused stole three of JB Danquah’s cell phones.

He reported to Parliament that the prosecution had called eight witnesses in total, with the investigation’s investigator appearing at this time and facing additional cross-examination from the defense today, February 20.
