According to the website Flightradar24, the aircraft carrying the Queen’s casket to London was the most closely monitored in history.
Within the first minute of flight, about six million people attempted to track the plane’s path from Edinburgh to RAF Northolt, according to the website.
The platform, which allows users to follow the flight route of planes in the sky, experienced delays due to the heavy usage.
It claimed that 296,000 people were watching a YouTube feed while 4.79 million people watched on its website and mobile app.
The previous record was set last month when 2.2 million people used Flightradar24 to track a flight carrying US lawmaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
After laying in state at St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, the Queen’s coffin was transported on an RAF Globemaster C-17.
Any military airplane with the Queen on board has the callsign “Kittyhawk,” which was used for this flight.
Ben Wallace, the Defense Secretary, and Prime Minister Liz Truss were among those waiting for the flight at RAF Northolt as it arrived just before 19:00 BST.
Before the jet took off, Flightradar24 claimed to have taken precautions to make its platform as stable as possible.
