Today, the Ghanaian Embassy in Tripoli, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration, successfully repatriated 165 Ghanaians to their homeland.
The Ministry of Information states that they should arrive at Kotoka International Airport at 1500 GMT. This information was included in a statement released by the Information Ministry on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in October of last year, the Embassy and the IOM made it possible for the fourth group of 169 Ghanaians to be repatriated to Accra under the Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR) program for 2023.
On October 10, 2023, 134 citizens of Ghana who were part of the third group of returnees were willingly returned to their home country of Ghana via the same program. They left the city of Misrata.
This raises the total to 629 Ghanaian nationals who benefited from the VHR program in 2023. People in detention centers, the ill, families with small children, the stranded, and the destitute who required help to return to Ghana were accorded priority.
