It’s hard to believe that only a month into 2022 we’ve already lost top stars of Hollywood, entertainment, and beyond.
What makes some of these early losses so difficult to bear is that they cloud the hope and excitement of a new year with a moment of mourning.
Here are 13 celebrity deaths in January 2022
1. Cheslie Kryst
The 2019 Miss USA winner died by apparent suicide on January 30 in New York City. She was 30 years old.
2. Thierry Mugler
Fashion designer Thierry Mugler passed away on January 23 at the age of 73.
The cause of his death was not given. He died on January 24, 2022.
3. Clark Gillies
Canadian professional ice hockey player, and a stalwart on the New York Islanders’ dynasty, Clark Gillies died of cancer at age 67 on January 21, 2022.
4. Louie Anderson
Louie Anderson died at 68 after battling cancer.
He was being treated for Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma but lost his battle on January 21.
5. Meat Loaf
The iconic singer and actor sadly passed away aged 74 on January 20, with TMZ reporting he died from Covid although these claims are yet to be confirmed.
6. Yvette Mimieux
Yvette, an actress known for roles in iconic films such as The Black Hole from 1979, died at age 80 of natural causes on January 17.
7. Gaspard Ulliel
French movie star Gaspard died at age 37 following a ski accident.
His tragic passing happened on January 19.
8. Andre Leon Talley
André Leon Talley passed away on January 18 at the age of 73.
9. Joe B. Hall
Hall died on January 15, 2022.
His cause of death is not known, however, it is believed that he died of old age.
10. Jordan Cashmyer
Jordan died aged just 26-years-old.
She passed away on January 16, but the former reality TV star’s cause of death is unknown.
11. Deon Lendore
The former Olympic bronze medal-winning sprinter for Trinidad & Tobago was killed in a head-on collision in Texas.
12. Bob Saget
Stand-up comedian and actor Bob shocked the world of comedy when he passed away aged just 65.
He died suddenly on January 9 of a suspected heart attack or stroke.
12. Sidney Poitier
The legendary actor, who was the first Black man to win a Best Actor Oscar, passed away on January 6.
Aged 94-years-old Sidney died from a combination of heart failure, Alzheimer’s dementia, and prostate cancer.
13. Kim Mi-soo
On January 5, 2022, Kim died due to unspecified causes at age 29. She died in South Korea.
