People mostly know Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as the former Vice President of Ghana and former Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

1. He was born in Cape Coast
- Amissah-Arthur was born at Cape Coast, the capital of the Central region of Ghana to Mr J.R.P Amissah Arthur (a teacher) and Mrs Effie Amissah-Arthur. His mother was from the Hutchful family and his father from the Amissah-Arthur family. Both families originated from Cape Coast.
2. Amissah-Arthur attended Mfantsipim School
He completed senior secondary school education at the Mfantsipim School, where he obtained the GCE Ordinary Level in 1969 and the GCE Advanced Level in 1971. He proceeded to theUniversity of Ghana-Legon at where he obtained the B.Sc in 1974 and Masters in 1976, both in Economics.
3. Paa Kwesi was part of Netherlands’ government education project
He served as a consultant for the Netherlands’ government education project in Ghana after his work as a consultant for the World Bank in The Gambia.
4. His family
He was married to Matilda Amissah-Arthur with two children. He was a Christian and worshipped at the Calvary Methodist Church at Adabraka in Accra.
5. He taught in Nigeria
He was once also a lecturer at the Department of Economics, Anambra State College of Education, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria (August 1981 – July 1983).
6. He served under Ex-President Rawlings
From April 1993, he served as Deputy Minister for Finance in under then governor Rawlings after the establishment of the constitutional rule until March 1997.
7. He was Governor of Bank of Ghana
He was appointed as Governor of the supreme Bank Of Ghana in October 2009 by also late former President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills.
8. Accra Hearts of Oak supporter
He was also an Accra Hearts of Oak supporter. He was a fitness advocate and regularly trained at the Ghana Airforce Gym base (where coincidentally he collapsed in the lead up to his death).
9. His favourite food
He was selective about what he ate because he was allergic to some food. Because of that, he rarely ate outside home. His favourite dish was fried plantain nuggets and Bambara beans.
10. Fashion sense
He as a rule always wore his watch on his right wrist and wore no other jewellery. He was very much into electronics and loved photography. The reason was a camera was the first ever gift he had as a child.
