Jennifer Esposito stopped acting because she was suspended. According to her, her doctor advised that she seek a reduced workload because of her medical struggles with Celiac. However, Esposito claimed that rather an accommodate her request, the studio kept her contract and suspended her without pay.

In October 2011, Jennifer Esposito announced on The Late Show with David Letterman that she had celiac disease.

According to research, Coeliac disease or celiac disease is a long-term autoimmune disorder, primarily affecting the small intestine, where individuals develop intolerance to gluten, present in foods such as wheat, rye, and barley.

Classic symptoms include gastrointestinal problems such as chronic diarrhea, abdominal distention, malabsorption, loss of appetite, and among children failure to grow normally.
