Queen Daenerys I Targaryen, also known as Dany, was the younger sister of Rhaegar and Viserys Targaryen and the only child of King Aerys II Targaryen and Queen Rhaella. She was also known as Daenerys Stormborn.
Daenerys was initially a timid, obedient young girl. After marrying him, she gained Drogo’s khalasar. After his death, she expanded her realm into Essos, gaining the support of an army of Unsullied, and liberating Slaver’s Bay from the Ghiscari slave traders.
After a series of betrayals, grief, and personal tragedies, Daenerys eventually succumbed to the so-called “Targaryen madness” of her ancestors during her battle for Westeros.
Despite the kingdom’s submission, Daenerys took control after killing Queen Cersei Lannister and a significant number of commoners. Her nephew Jon Snow killed her because she was unable to be convinced to stop the destruction from going on. Later, Bran the Broken succeeded her, who had been chosen by the Great Council in 305 AC.
She and her brother were exiled to the Free Cities when they were young by devoted retainers like Ser Willem Darry. Viserys and Daenerys were granted shelter by Magister Illyrio Mopatis in the Free City of Pentos after years of futile attempts to rally support to reclaim the Iron Throne.
