Accra Circuit Court has ordered a salesgirl, named Regina Amegbe, to sign a bond of good behavior for six months after she was found guilty of stealing a whopping sum of over  GH¢25,000.00

Although Amegbe denied the theft captured on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), she actually paid the amount involved in the course of the trial.

During the trial, Police Chief Inspector, Christine Bansah, informed the court presided over by Susanna Eduful that Isaac Osei Darko, the complainant, owned a men’s wear boutique in Accra.

Amegbe, a salesgirl, was employed by Darko a year before the incident and kept the keys to the shop after close of work.

On March 3, 2021, which was a Friday, Regina allegedly informed Mr. Darko that thieves had broken into the shop and stolen some of the merchandise. When Darko went to verify for himself, he discovered on the CCTV that Regina had returned to the shop two hours after closing time with a man carrying a black polythene under her arms.

Per our findings, the CCTV footage captured the two packing men’s suits, trousers, shirts, shoes, T-shirts, and perfumes valued at GH¢25,000.00.

After the complainant arrested Amegbe, she was sent to the police station where she admitted to the theft but claimed she was tricked by her accomplice, who is currently on the run.
