REACTIONS: Ghanaians welcome the return of Otto Addo as Black Stars coach

As previously reported, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is considering installing Otto Addo as the Black Stars’ new head coach.

When rumors spread that the Ghana FA was considering pursuing the Ghanaian coach who was born in Germany, the majority of Ghanaians appeared to be rather pleased with the choice.

The dismissal of coach Chris Hughton following Ghana’s poor 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign has left the senior men’s national team without a permanent coach.

Since then, the GFA has established a committee with particular guidelines to hunt for a new coach.

Talks between the two parties are presently underway, however, Otto Addo is reportedly winning the competition to become Ghana’s next coach.

This action is most likely to take place since a large number of Ghanaian football supporters firmly support it and because GFA is prepared to extend a long-term contract to Otto Addo.

In his initial stint as Milovan Rajevac’s replacement early in 2022, the 48-year-old was instrumental in Ghana’s two-leg victory over Nigeria to earn a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He only managed a victory against South Korea at the Mundial in Qatar; he lost the other two matches against Portugal and Uruguay. Following the match, he resumed his position at German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund.
