“It was so painful to get red carded in derby game”- Fatawu Issahaku

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, a winger for Ghana, called his ejection from Leicester City Football Club’s 3-1 Sky Bet Championship loss to Coventry City “painful.”

Following his dismissal, he served a three-game suspension before making this statement in an exclusive interview with Leicester City’s official media channel.

After making his comeback to action, the 19-year-old assisted The Foxes in their 5-0 victory over Stoke City, and he is eager to build on his strong play while his loan from Sporting Lisbon.

“It was so painful for me. This was the game I wanted to win, but unfortunately I got a red card. It was so bad. I felt so disappointed” he said before adding

“I’ll be so much stronger and more effective now I’m back because I have to achieve what we have fought for now. We want to end this season on top of the table.”

Issahaku has eight assists, two goals, and 24 league appearances in his first season with Leicester. He has excused himself from consideration for the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON.
