Sister Derby, a Ghanaian artist and model, has confounded social media followers by stating that she believes in God but does not consider herself religious at all!

Derby stated in an interview that she believes religion is the cause of much of the evil in this country, hence she does not practice religion.

However, she continues to believe in a supernatural and greater power.

During an interview with YFm, Derby criticized ex-President Mahama and Ghanaians for being homophobic.

She feels that religion contributes significantly to homophobia, forcing individuals to loathe one another for no apparent reason.

Derby has consistently expressed support for the LGBT community, so her comments were not surprising. However, on social media, some disagreed, calling her confused.

This reaction derives from various perspectives on the LGBT issue. Derby’s words put attention on Ghana’s continuing debate around inclusive and various opinions, generating discussions on social media.
