On December 13, 1990, Fletcher Cox, a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, was born.
He played collegiate football for Mississippi State before being chosen by the Eagles in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Cox won the Super Bowl and was a six-time Pro Bowl selection.
In Yazoo City, Mississippi, Cox attended Yazoo City High School where he participated in track, basketball, and football. Cox played for Mississippi State University for three seasons.
When he was a junior in football in 2011, Cox made 103 total tackles, including 11 quarterback sacks, and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a score, and was named an All-American by Pro Football Weekly.
Contract
The Eagles and Fletcher Cox agreed to a $14 million, one-year contract. The deal is unconditionally guaranteed. The $12.5 million advance is accounted for as a signing bonus.
A dummy year is inserted for 2023 and 2024, which is only there to let the Eagles use Cox’s June 1 cut designation the following year. The cap hits represent how it will actually affect Philadelphia’s salary cap in those years.
