The European Union (EU) delegation to Ghana has revealed plans to host a series of events in celebration of Europe Month in May 2024.

The events will focus on the significance of youth and skills development in the partnership between the European Union and Ghana.

One of the main highlights of the Europe Month celebrations will be a boxing exhibition titled “Diplo-Rumble” featuring EU Ambassador Irchad Razaaly and Ghanaian boxing legend Azumah Nelson. The exhibition, set to take place on May 4 at the Bukom Boxing Arena, aims to showcase the boxing talents of young athletes in Bukom while promoting youth empowerment through sports.

On May 6, the EU and the Government of Ghana will hold their annual partnership dialogue, chaired by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. This meeting brings together Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited to Ghana, along with representatives from government institutions such as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The dialogue serves as a platform to assess progress on various topics including trade, security, and sustainable development, with the aim of strengthening Ghana-EU relations in the years to come.

The annual Europe Day Reception, a significant diplomatic gathering in Accra, will be held on May 9 at the EU Ambassador’s Residence. This year’s reception will emphasize the strong relations between the EU and Ghana, featuring top entertainment and music performances.

The activities will culminate with a networking reception on May 24 to celebrate the partnership between Europe and Ghana in the areas of education and skills. The EU-Ghana Pact for Skills Programme, a groundbreaking initiative, symbolizes the commitment of the European Union and Ghana to invest in the future of Ghanaian youth. The event will also include a scholarship fair showcasing various scholarship programs offered by European universities, providing Ghanaian students with opportunities to explore higher education options in Europe.

Overall, the Europe Month events aim to strengthen the partnership between the European Union and Ghana, particularly in the areas of youth development, education, and skills training.
