Guy Johnson the only son of American great writer, poet, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou has died in his Oakland, California home.

His death is said to have occurred on Wednesday, 16 February 2022. Guy Johnson had an exciting upbringing, he moved with his mother where ever she went until he went to college.

Guy, was like his mother a poet and author. He started his career as a manager of a bar in Spain. He then run a photo-safari service from London through Morocco and Algeria to the Spanish Sahara.

He also worked as an oil rig worker in Kuwait.

At the time of his passing, he had sought medical leave from the Oakland local government where he had worked as a manager for more than 20 years.

He was married to Stephanie Floyd Johnson and had two children with her. Colin Ashanti Murphy and Elliot Jones.
