She has won two Academy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and has been nominated for Tony and Primetime Emmys.

Blanchett is married to screenwriter and playwright Andrew Upton. They met in the mid-1990s in Australia and married on December 29, 1997.

Andrew Upton born on 1 February 1966 is a playwright, screenwriter, and director from Australia.

He has adapted works by Gorky, Chekhov, Ibsen, and others for the Royal National Theatre in London and the Sydney Theatre Company in Australia.

He authored the original piece Riflemind, which premiered to positive acclaim at the Sydney Theatre Company with Hugo Weaving acting and Philip Seymour Hoffmann directing the London production.

Upton and his wife, Cate Blanchett, co-founded the film production business Dirty Films, through which Upton produced the Australian feature Little Fish.

From 2008 to 2012, Upton and Blanchett served as co-artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company.

Upton went to The King’s School in Parramatta and then to the University of Sydney. He and Cate Blanchett met in the mid-1990s in Australia and married on December 29, 1997.

The couple is the parents of three sons and one daughter.

Dashiell John Upton (born 2001), Roman Robert Upton (born 2004), Ignatius Martin Upton (born 2008), and Edith Vivian Patricia Upton are their boys (adopted in 2015).

The couple’s children appeared alongside Upton in Manifesto, a 2015 film. In early 2016, Upton and Blanchett purchased a home in East Sussex, England.
