Randall Darius Jackson (born June 23, 1956) is an American singer, musician, record producer, businessman, and television personality.

Jackson began his career in the 1980s as a session musician playing bass guitar for multiplayer jazz, pop, rock, and R&B. He went on to work in music production and in the A&R department at Columbia Records and MCA Records.

Jackson is best known for his appearance as a long-serving judge on American Idol and the executive producer of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew.

In May 2020, Jackson was re-hired as a bassist on the Journey following their sudden split with founding member Ross Valory. Jackson had previously starred in the band’s 1986 album Raised on Radio and its journey.

She has starred in the British TV talent competition Pop Idol (2001-2003), X Factor UK (2004-2010, 2014-2018), and British’s Got Talent (2007-present), as well as the American Idol TV talent competition series. (2002–2010), The X Factor US (2011–2013), and America’s Got Talent (2016 – current).

Cowell is the sole founder and owner of the British entertainment company Syco.
