ITN issued the following statement on Twitter: “We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Sir David Nicholas, former ITN Editor-in-Chief.
“His pioneering tactics continue to impact news programming today, making him one of the great inventors of broadcast journalism.
“All of us at ITN extend our heartfelt sympathies to Sir David’s family.”
