Did Boris Johnson hide in a fridge to avoid Piers Morgan’s interview?
Boris Johnson ducked inside a freezer to escape a TV interview, amid jitters at CCHQ over a tightening in the opinion polls.
When Swain confronts the prime minister, claiming that he was live on the show, Johnson responds, “I’ll be with you in a second” and walks away, prompting Piers to scream, “he’s gone into the fridge.” Johnson and his aides enter a fridge packed with milk bottles. “It’s a bunker,” one individual can be heard saying.
Conservative insiders later argued that Johnson was “categorically not hiding” in the fridge, from where he emerged carrying a crate of milk bottles — rather, his aides were preparing the PM for a separate, pre-agreed-upon interview.
